Who is Tim Brown II?

Tim Brown, II is a sought-after drummer/ Percussionist and an amateur Music Producer currently living in New Orleans and being active in the music scene as an intern with the New Orleans Jazz National Historical Park, as an African drummer with the Congo Square Preservation Society, as a Church Drummer at Power House Church of God in Metairie, Louisiana, and for various other bands around the city if needed (Including his Alma Mater)

Tim Brown, II is a Mississippi Native where he was born in Flowood, MS and raised in Ridgeland, MS. He received his early education in Connecticut and Texas. His family moved back to Mississippi when he was age 8 and considers Ridgeland his hometown and New Orleans, LA his second hometown. He graduated in May of 2025 from Xavier University of Louisiana with a Bachelors in Music Performance and a minor in Mass Communications.

His parents discovered that he had a passion and talent for music early in my life. At the age of 5, he started taking drum set lessons. Additionally, he had piano and vocal lessons to expand his musical awareness. From 2018-2021, he achieved and maintained Percussion First Chair in the Symphonic band at Ridgeland High School. Two of his favorite awards that he received in high school were 1 of 2 Most Outstanding Sophomore Band Student Award and school faculty selection as of 1 of 8 Senior students to receive the Blue and Silver Award based on character, citizenship, and school engagement. At Xavier University of Louisiana, he participated in the symphonic and jazz Bands including the Golden Sound Marching Band and studied with his percussion instructor Corinne Walters, Dr. Tim R Turner, Marcus Ballard, Alan Theissen and many others. His most notable performances was performing in the 2022 New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival with the Xavier University of Louisiana Jazz Ensemble, the 2022 International Arts Festival New Orleans, and the 2024 Treme Fall Festival Second Line Parade. 

 

He enjoys exploring new places and cultures. Specifically, he enjoys learning the musical history of cultures. He also enjoys meeting new people and doing African drumming at Congo Square every Sunday Afternoons. 

He will continue to develop his career in music and educate people about the skills and technique in being a percussion player. He will achieve this goal by the continued practice of his craft through performance activities. He desires to tour the world and demonstrate his abilities as a session drummer and musician.
